Using PDF Files

The Red Rope web site publishes many documents in PDF format. This is a standard format used widely on the web because it allows us to publish read-only documents that can be read by different types of computer such as PCs and MACs, no matter what software is available. When you click on a link to a PDF document it will open in a PDF reader. If you get an error message you may need to download one of the free PDF readers. (See below)

Depending on how you have set up your browser the document may open in the reader itself or it may be displayed in a browser window. Some of our documents open deliberately in another window or tab so you can still see the page you came from.

Getting a free PDF reader

If you do not have a PDF reader on your computer you can download the free Adobe Acrobat reader by clicking on the ‘Get Acrobat Reader’ link below.

Printing PDF files

If the PDF document is displayed in a browser window then you must use the print icon on the PDF reader icon bar. Do not use your internet browser print command, it will not work.
