Sheffield region members are mostly based in Sheffield but we also have members in Nottingham, Derbyshire (Matlock) and Staffordshire.
We organize day walks fortnightly on a Sunday (ie every other Sunday) as well as occasional walks on other days too. Sheffield members usually meet at the City Hall to share lifts and non-Sheffield based members also share transport when possible. Some walks are organised to be accessible for public transport using the Peak District buses and the scenic Hope Valley train service.
We walk in most parts of the Peak District and sometimes meet up with Leicester and Manchester Red Rope colleagues for joint walks.
We organise social meetings, usually for eating and drinking at a member’s home, either after a walk or in an evening – and the summer AGM is generally an excuse for a social too.
We are always keen to welcome new members and you are welcome to join us for a walk before deciding to join.
Sheffield Walks Program:-
|21/10/18||The walk is about 8 miles. Starting point Calver Bridge, grid 246745, near the Calver Craft Centre. Meet there at 11 o’clock or Sheffield City Hall steps at 10 to share transport.
Route: along Derwent to Froggatt Bridge, up to Eyam, down Eyam Dale, up to Lane Head and Black Harry Lane, Longstone Edge, over High Rake and down to Calver . Very good tea and cakes at Craft Shop, or pub at the Bridge.
Walk Starts 10.30 at Fox House SK266802 – Park in the front section of the car park or by the roadside. Sheffielders meet as usual at City Hall 10.00 am to share transport
