Sheffield walk summer 2014

Sheffield walk summer 2014

Sheffield region members are mostly based in Sheffield but we also have members in Nottingham, Derbyshire (Matlock) and Staffordshire.

We organize day walks fortnightly on a Sunday (ie every other Sunday) as well as occasional walks on other days too.  Sheffield members usually meet at the City Hall to share lifts and non-Sheffield based members also share transport when possible. Some walks are organised to be accessible for public transport using the Peak District buses and the scenic Hope Valley train service.

We walk in most parts of the Peak District and sometimes meet up with Leicester and Manchester Red Rope colleagues for joint walks.
We organise social meetings, usually for eating and drinking at a member’s home, either after a walk or in an evening – and the summer AGM is generally an excuse for a social too.

We are always keen to welcome new members and you are welcome to join us for a walk before deciding to join.

Sheffield Walks Program:-

17/06/2018 A walk around Low Bradfield involving a figure of eight with a 7 mile loop and a 5 mile loop so, if when we have done the first loop some or all want to go a bit further (with or without a tea break in Bradfield) we can. The walk initially goes east over field paths and via part of the Bradfield “coffin route” to Low Ash Farm and then heads north and into Coumes Vale and Coumes Woods before heading back west via High Bradfield to Low Bradfield. The second loop goes south – through the woods up to Dungworth and back along Damflask reservoir. So, if it’s a sunny day, there will be shade in the woods on both loops and plenty of refreshment opportunities in Low (and High) Bradfield

Sheffielders meet as usual 10 am at City Hall for car share. Walk starts from Low Bradfield car park at 10.30.

There is parking space both in the Low Bradfield car park (Grid Reference SK 2626 9204) and on the road by the Low Bradfield bowling green.
